Rune

· Rún (древнесканд.) (Runic)

RU: Руна

Rune (Old Norse rún — "secret", "whisper"; Proto-Germanic *rūnō) is a symbol of the Elder Futhark (T077), simultaneously a letter, a sound, a numerical value and a living archetypal force.

The revelation to Odin. According to the Hávamál ("Sayings of the High One", Poetic Edda), the runes were revealed to Odin after nine nights of self-sacrifice on the World Tree Yggdrasil (T078).

A Rune Does Not "Denote" — It "Is"

A living force. A rune does not "denote" — it "is" the force that it names. It is not a symbol but a manifestation.

Working with the Runes

  • Diagnosis — through divination (casting the runes)
  • Transformation — through bindrunes (rune combinations) and galdr (vocal activation)
