Astrosophy (Steiner)

Astrosophy (from the Greek for "star wisdom") is the astrological branch of anthroposophy, the spiritual science founded by the Austrian thinker Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925). Unlike classical astrology, Steiner did not construct charts in the traditional sense or make predictions: his system describes the biographical laws governing human development across incarnations from the standpoint of the evolution of consciousness and karmic connections.

The central structure of astrosophy is the seven-year biographical period, each governed by a specific planet. The first seven years fall under the Moon (formation of the physical body); ages 7-14 under Mercury (the etheric body, memory, rhythm); 14-21 under Venus (the astral body, feelings, relationships); 21-28 under the Sun (the emergence of the "I," the first true coming of age); 28-35 under Mars (will, action, testing); 35-42 under Jupiter (wisdom, expansion, social role); 42-49 under Saturn (taking stock, karmic encounters). After age 49, the cycles repeat at a higher level.

Additional concepts include the Akashic Chronicle — a mystical "record" of all the universe's experience, accessible to the clairvoyant — and special "Christian" planetary influences linked to the spiritual evolution of humanity through the event of Golgotha. The lunar node and its 18-year cycle are viewed as markers of karmic encounters and recurring themes.

In Errarium, astrosophy (#45) occupies a unique position: it is the system that most consistently integrates astrology with spiritual philosophy and biographical work. Its closest analogue by function is Jungian archetypes (#11) as a psychological tool for working with biography; by structure — any system with life periods (Dashas in Jyotish, Da Yun in Bazi). Its distinction from all others lies in the anthroposophical worldview of incarnations and spiritual evolution.
